The Vintage Program in MLB The Show 26 has pulled a lot of attention, and not just because people want packs or quick XP. The real draw is Ketel Marte. If you've been saving cards, flipping on the market, or watching your MLB 26 stubs closely, this is one of those rewards that actually feels worth planning around. Marte isn't a card you unlock, try for two games, and then forget. He fits too many lineups for that. Switch hitter, useful bat, more than one defensive home. That's the sort of player people keep around when the roster starts getting crowded.

Why Marte Changes the Way You Build a Team
Some collection rewards look great on paper but feel awkward once you try to slot them in. Marte doesn't have that problem. You can use him up the middle, move him around if your squad changes, or keep him as a bench weapon if you're already stacked. The switch-hitting matters a lot too. Ranked games are full of bullpen matchups, and having a bat that doesn't fold just because the opponent brings in a lefty or righty is a real advantage. You'll notice it in tight games, especially when one swing decides everything.

How the Vintage Collection Works
To get Vintage Ketel Marte, you need to finish the Vintage Collection by collecting all 25 Vintage Series cards. That sounds like a lot, and yeah, it can be, but the program does hand you several pieces along the way. The set mixes big names and familiar favourites, with cards such as Derek Jeter, Chase Utley, Larry Walker, Lou Gehrig, Nolan Arenado, Xander Bogaerts, Gary Sánchez, Teoscar Hernández, Matt Carpenter, and Luis Arraez involved. It doesn't feel like a random pile of cards either. There's a nice old-school meets modern-star feel to it, which makes the grind a bit easier to stomach.

Rewards You Should Not Ignore
Marte is the prize, but there are useful stops before you get there. Lou Gehrig is the obvious one if you need a left-handed bat with some thump. He can carry Conquest games and still do damage online. Robbie Ray gives you another arm for missions or rotation depth, which is always handy when stamina starts getting annoying. Michael Conforto is also more useful than people might expect, especially if you're stacking Parallel XP. The Deluxe Vintage Pack near the end of the path can be a big swing too. Pull the right card, and suddenly the collection feels much less painful.

The Smart Grind
The best way to move through the program is to stop treating every mission like a separate chore. Build a lineup with Vintage players, then let the stats come together naturally. Hits, runs, total bases, homers, wins, and Parallel XP can all stack in the same game if you set things up properly. Conquest is still one of the easiest places to do this because the games are short, and you can control the matchups better. Mini Seasons can work as well if you'd rather grind something with more repeat value. Don't overthink every inning. Use the cards you need, take the easy stats, and keep moving.

Why the Program Is Worth Your Time
If you're trying to build a team that lasts longer than one content drop, this program makes sense. You get packs, XP, stubs, usable players, and steady collection progress without needing to play like it's a second job. Some players may choose to speed things up through the market, and anyone looking to buy MLB 26 stubs should still think carefully about which Vintage cards save the most time. Marte is the reason to finish it, but the path itself gives enough back that the grind rarely feels wasted.
